Training Subject Matter Experts to Teach

This 3-hour workshop is part one of a two-part series filled with practical applications and engaging learning. Discover how to get the most from your subject matter experts, both in the classroom and in the design phase of training. Whether these concepts are new or this class is a reinforcement of what you already do, it is sure to provide you with practical tips and techniques, all based on a solid, adult learning foundation. Come prepared to have fun, learn a lot, and take away ideas you will almost certainly use immediately!

  • Improving how experts teach
  • Helping experts define training
  • The problem with too much information
  • Providing experts with a design model that works for them

  • At the end of this workshop, the successful student will be able to…
  • Articulate why technical experts often struggle to communicate in simple and identify an approach that will help them do so.
  • Identify the differences between a presentation and a training class and describe why it matters to technical experts.
  • List the three stages of experiential learning and how technical experts can provide leadership in all three of them.
  • Demonstrate writing technical learning objectives that help experts eliminate unnecessary information.
