ATD has released the annual State of the Industry Report for Workplace Learning and Performance. It’s full of great trends and data for the US. But do you wonder what’s going on here in Minnesota?

We’ve gathered an amazing panel of leaders to discuss the state of talent development here in Minnesota, and how they see national trends playing out in their own organizations. Pick up tips and ideas for dealing with challenges and opportunities at your own company, and expand your network to boot.

Panelists Include:
Rod Johnson is founder and president of Growing Your Leaders, a talent and leadership development firm. As an executive coach, consultant and keynote speaker, he works with organizations helping them understand, value and leverage their strategic talent assets.

Joyce Lasecke is president and co-owner of Fredrickson Communications, a professional services firm in Minneapolis that designs and creates workplace learning experiences for major business initiatives. Over the past 30 years, Joyce has interviewed hundreds of instructional designers, technical writers, and trainers, looking for the ones who fit into Fredrickson’s culture.  She works with clients to staff their projects, juggling availability, required skills, and personality fit. Joyce has a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota.

Jennifer Kelly is a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist at Ecolab. She has been with Ecolab for just over a year recruiting and managing the MBA Leadership Program. Previous to joining Ecolab, Jennifer spent 8 years at the University of Minnesota working in Business Career Services and Post-Secondary Programs. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and is expected to receive her MBA from the Carlson School of Management in May. Jennifer serves on GreaterMSP’s Talent Task Force and enjoys travel, horseback riding and cheering on Gopher athletics.

Patrick Karsnick is the Director of Training for Caribou Coffee. With over 17 years experience in the field of training and development, specializing in the retail/hospitality field, Patrick leads the training function of the second largest coffee company in the world for the last five years. Patrick also serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for The Children’s Workshop, a non-profit Montessori program.

Kirsten Pardoe’s
career has focused on human capital and talent development at many levels.  Passion for supporting other’s growth and development has driven Kirsten to successfully promote, design and conduct employee learning opportunities for almost 20 years.  Kirsten’s prior experience includes applying her solid foundation in education professionally in a wide variety of businesses including real estate, insurance, wholesale retail, financial services and healthcare.  She has collaborated with front-line employees, middle management and senior executives to integrate adult learning theory and change management practices with an organization’s actions.

Kirsten holds a Master’s of Education from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Education from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with minor study in Early Childhood Education from University of Wisconsin – Stout.
