The Greater Twin Cities Chapter of the Association for Talent Development Presents

    Agile within Learning and Development:

Deliver higher quality learning to your business partners in less time. Agile enables teams to deliver value more quickly with a greater ability to respond to change.  In this session, you will hear from Debbie Taute, Learning Solutions Senior Associate and Kara Wallisch, Learning Solutions Associate, members of an experienced Learning & Development Agile Scrum Team. They will talk about best practices that allow them to meet their clients’ business needs in a short two-week sprint.  Join this session to:

    • Key components of Agile: Define the different roles within an Agile Scrum team and the events that take place.
    • Best practices for overcoming roadblocks: Learn the challenges we have faced as a team (both in the office and working remotely) and the solutions we put in place.
    • Agile in your workplace: Participate in discussions on how the Agile framework could be used at your place of business.

    About our Presenters:

Trainers Intuition: What it is and How Do I Develop it?

In this session, we'll start to make conscious that mystical part of us that we use daily without even realizing it: our intuition. We'll discuss the various ways we gain information from our intuition and how it helps us as trainers in the classroom (both live and online!). We'll practice techniques for identifying intuitive information and developing our intuitive skills.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Define "intuition" and discuss its benefits in training
    • Identify the most common ways people experience intuition
    • Practice techniques for tapping into your intuition
    • Understand how learning about intuition can help  leaders in terms of how they set vision, lead, and guide their teams

Amy Jokinen, Learning and Development Manager

    Eide Bailly

Amy Jokinen is a professional development trainer with accounting firm Eide Bailly where she focuses on soft skills training and leadership development. Before joining Eide Bailly 14 years ago, she taught Freshman English and Screenwriting courses at Minnesota State University Moorhead. When not training, she enjoys studying and practicing holistic healing modalities. Her passion combines both interests: She loves helping people understand and develop their intuition.

    October Coffee Talk

How to Engage Your Audience and Rething Hiring (Using a Bike!)

In a world where everything is being done “virtually”, it is more important than ever to find new, creative and fun ways to engage with your audience. Far too often, presentations are boring and lack-luster leaving participants wishing the torture would end and drifting mindlessly away to other more interesting and relevant topics even during the presentation itself. But what if things were done differently? What if we could still capture the interest and imagination of our audience while presenting meaningful, powerful new concepts that would help participants gain new skills and understanding about your topic. That’s exactly what this session is all about – demonstrating how we can engage our audience while conveying an important and relevant new skill – and not
    losing their focus and attention.

In this session, our skill building will be focused on how to Hire and Onboard the Best Talent. And the presentation itself will demonstrate new methods for presenting, sharing and engaging your audience.

The primary learning objectives of this presentation include:

    • Re-think how to use interactive presentation tools and techniques for virtual learning.
    • Recognizing how visual metaphors are powerful models for teaching and memory hooks.
    • Understanding how a bike is a perfect metaphor for a business.
    • Exploring new methods for hiring and on-boarding employees during this challenging economy.

    Rich Allen

Rich is on a mission – to help business owners and senior leaders build radically-engaged teams so they can unlock hidden profits, allow their businesses to scale and provide business owners with new-found freedom! Rich used his practical approach to team engagement while running and growing a manufacturing business to well over $100M in annual revenues.

Rich has published two books, "Tour de Profit – a 52 Stage Race to Grow Your Business" (2011) and "The Ultimate Business Tune Up – a Simple Yet Powerful Business Model That Will Transform the Lives of Small Business Owners" (2017).
